ST/APC Fiber optic Attenuator, Male to Female, 1~25dB
ST/APC Fiber optic Attenuator, Male to Female, 1~25dB attenuator, or fiber optic attenuator, is a device used to reduce the power level of an optical signal, either in free space or in an optical fiber. The basic types of optical attenuators are fixed, step-wise variable, and continuously variable.
These fiber optic attenuators consist of a male ST connector on one end and a female ST connector on the other end. When a cable end in inserted into the female end, the remaining male end can be connected to the equipment where the cable would otherwise connect directly, but providing the desired signal strength reduction. This attenuator is available in many dB attenuation values between 1dB and 25dB.
